random misfire code

Question random misfire code

so i have an 02 formula i recently changed out my exhaust manifolds to bbk shorty headers and high flow cats....well had a misfire in the 6th cylinder car was idling rough so i popped off the coil pack cleaned it and runs fine but now its showing that i have a random misfire now anyone might know what it could be (also service engine light flashes)

could be anything, check for vaccum leaks, check plugs. Ive also had a fuel pump give a random misfire a few months before it finally went out.

more than likely the coil pack is your problem

yeah i think it might be the coil pack but i just cleaned off the electric connector and it didnt show the 6th cylinder misfiring it just gave the random misfire but im going to change out that coil pack and see what it does

Do you have a scan tool? If so you can loom at misfire counts and see if it is still doing it. If you do not have a scan tool unplug you battary for awile and see if the code comes back it could just be a result of the coil you cleaned if 6 was misfiring and you fixed that it could have saved the random code misfire code. Did you every have p0306 and p0300 at the same time?

at first it was a p0306 now its just a p0300 code ive erased it and it popped back up again so im going to check my vac lines and seals and ive already ordered a new coil pack to replace that one so we'll see how it goes from there
