Clanking?
Clanking? Ok, A few weeks ago I pulled the motor/tranny(4L60E) and changed the front timing cover gasket/seal, oil pan gasket, rear main gasket/seal and put in a new o-ring for the pickup tube. didn't mess with any of the valvetrain. I did go back to a stock pulley.
1st startup it idled fine for a few secs then I got this weird clanking noise, kinda loud. it's high pitched not a deep tone. Kinda weird how it came out of nowhere. All I did is change all of the above.
I went through and checked all the pushrods, rocker arms, tq converter bolts, all seems fine. it's not an exhaust leak at the manifolds.
I'm stumped now, oil pressure is fine.
It's crossed my mind that it could be the flexplate is cracked/damaged but when I look in the inspection hole it appears fine. Driving me nuts, any ideas before I remove it once again and tear it down to a bare block?
