I know this is old but I'm in the process of replacing my alternator. Did you guys work from the bottom or top? I'm working from the top and I've removed the two 15mm and one 13mm bolt but can't pry it free. Do I need to yank from the bottom or just try to turn it and pull forward?

Taking the bracket out is what's needed. Actually, I just loosened it quite a bit and was able to work the alternator out enough to get to the exciter plug and get that off.
Looks like I am going to have to jack the car up to get the power connector off as the alternator fell through to the floor (I have it supported so it's not pulling the connector). Otherwise, I don't see how I can possibly reconnect the exciter, the power line, and then get it lined back up from the top. I foresee taking the bracket all the way out and getting everything started on it before trying to re-position everything.
