Default Another Headlight Issue

My driver's side headlight seems to close too hard and then cant open up again unless I loosen the motor a little bit manually. Anyone know what could cause the motor to over torque itself?

Take a look at the motor-to-door linkages on both sides. Any differences?

The stoppers are there. They are the hard white tabs right? When you say motor to door linkage I'm guessing will have to take a look to see if something is different.

The linkage is the arm that connects the door to the motor. The very end of that linkage turns in a circle around a motor and hits the bump stops. I believe they are black plastic.

Does the back/top of your headlight cover seem to get stuck under the hood and that prevents it from coming up entirely? That is, if you remove the hood from the equation - and raise the hood - you can then raise your headlight completely?

If so - look at your hood bumpers. (I think that's what they're called) I had this problem - drove me nuts until I finally figured out what it was caused by. It scuffed up the paint on the top edge of my headlight cover that was affected.

There are these little plastic hood bumpers that support the hood when it's closed. I believe there are several in there - but the two up front (closest to headlights) are cylindrical and black plastic. Probably an inch+ in diameter and 3 inches or so tall including the threads.

I didn't even notice them in there when I was inspecting the headlights. You have to open the hood to see them - and they're out towards the side edges near the front of the car. (If you need a picture, let me know and I'll take one for you)

They screw in so you can adjust them up or down and make little adjustments to how your hood sits. One of mine had cracked its giant threads and was sort of sitting there crooked.

I bought another one off Ebay from a guy for about $8 or so. I believe it was a dealer item and I was going to have to wait for them to order it.

Hope that helps!
