Fuel guage problem

Fuel guage problem I have a friend who just today bought a 99 firebird 3.8 5spd and his fuel guage is stuck all the way on full. I was wondering what would cause this. I think it may be the sending unit but like i told him i dont know how common these go out. Could it be the guage or maybe a wire grounding out?
