Default Hatch Randomly opens itself????

Have a strange problem that started a few days ago.
Came back to my car after class and the hatch was open. Thought nothing of it that i just left it open. Was driving home and it opened on its own out of nowhere. Got home, shut the hatch and locked the car. 5 minutes later heard the alarm going off and went to check it out and the hatch was open again. When this happens neither the hatch open button on the remote nor the one in the car will work.

What should i start checking?

need help asap since gotta go back to school on monday in pa.

The hatch button in the car is a real pain some times. On mine, I can hit the button 5 times and nothing will happen; I think that is a pretty common problem too, but I would bet it is related to your problem. Maybe the contact points on the switch are touching each other?

drop the panel under the steering wheel and unplug the hatch button and see if it still does it......if it don't then i guess the button/switch has gone bad

The latch is controlled by the Body Control Module, and since it stops working it's probably going bad.

damn. I disconnected the switch from under the steering wheel and when i came back later the trunk was open again. Tried disconnecting the plug from the actual lock module this time and gonna see if it unlocks again. Looks like i might be needing a new BCM.
