Default Overheating (ls1) question

Friend of mines been having an odd overheating issue, on his 99 camaro. It seems to only overheat when he is on the highway, and nothing super bad we drove it around yest and went like 15 miles on the highway and it was just approaching the 3rd line (4th is red pretty sure). Anyways when we noticed it we got off to pull off and check fans and such. As we were waiting at light at off ramp, dang car started getting cooler so scratch fans.So we took it to his house driving off highway about another 20-25 miles taking regular roads plenty lights and the car was back at normal.

Get to his house checked to make sure there was no crap cluttering up the air vent at bottom, as Ive read thats sometimes a issue. No blockage, coolant not low,no oil in radiator or milky oil. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this?

How is your belt? Maybe its slipping and causing the water pump to bog down? You can check the status at the marks on the tensioner.

If the car is really overheating check the t stat and take that radiator right out and clean it good. Maybe even do a home flush and replace with new dexcool.

Its hard to know if its overheating for sure cause you cant go by the gauge they are not accurate. You should check what the pcm says. If the fans come on and the car cools down then I would say there isnt a big problem if any. These engines are made to run hot (at least 190f).
