Alarm and Stereo Problem
Alarm and Stereo Problem Okay so I lent my car to my dad for two days so he could go out of state for a business interview, brings back the car and that same day I start having all sorts of electric issues.
First the stereo was flashing on and off, at first I thought it was just the Vats but when the stereo turned off the windows still rolled up and down with no problem.
Second, when I try starting it not a single light turns on and all I hear is a clicking sound from the glovebox area. I have to switch the headlights on and off for it to reset and let me turn on the engine. When it turns on the trip odometer resets itself.
Third, when I shift from N to R the lights dim and the engine seems like it stalls a little.
Tomorrow since I don't have class till the evening I'm opening up part of the dash where the stereo goes in to check for any loose wires as well as in the engine bay.
Any clue what it might be?

I would start by checking battery connections. I mean actually removing them from battery and inspecting them. I would then take the car and have the battery and alterator tested. If everything checks ok, then I would suggest moving forward.
Thanks, that what I did and it all showed up good. I found out the problem was that one of the connectors in the radio harness had come ondone and was just dangling around I connected it and it all works right.
