Default Misfire help

So while driving home from college this weekendy car all of a sudden started acting sluggish when going up hills and when accelerating. Ran computer on it, misfire on #2. So I replace all my spark plugs and wires since they needed it anyway. Drove it on the interstate and was fine for the first 150 miles then the same things happened again.. Sluggish and what not.

Any ideas? It's a 2001 v6 firebird

Could b a bad coil. not sure how the coils are on the v6's. I'm assuming individual coils...

I had the same problem on my 2000 v6 camaro ... its the coil pack... i learned this after replacing the plugs and wires twice... save your money and replace the coil

They should be a dual coils and its an easy fix

Awesome. Thanks man. A couple questions....can I fix it myself? And what causes them to go bad?

The coil order is like this.

Its the second coil you need to replace and should take you 30 minutes tops.
Take the plug wires off the first and second coil to make things easier.

1.Unbolt the first & second coil. (first is optional if you have skinny hands)
2.Check for corrosion on the ICM pins and all 3coils.
3.Put dielectric grease on Ignition control module pins (ICM), this is the thing coil sits on.
4.Replace the coil, put dielectric grease on the coil itself and put the coil back on the
ICM, put the plug wires on for the coils.
Don't put the bolts back on yet and start the car to see if you get misfire code again.

If the code comes back again, then It might be your ICM itself that's going bad.
You can get the ICM tested at Autozone for free.

Personally I 'd test the ICM first since its free and to take it off you 'd only have to take off the third coil and one more bolt that holds the ICM down. I doubt any parts store would take the coil back in case it is your ICM.
