steering wheel removal
Does anyone know what size bolts are used to remove the steering wheel on a '96 lt1 using a puller? The rental puller comes with 2 different size bolts but apparently the person who used it before me ruined the threads on the bolt.
Thanks
Edit: Bought a different steering wheel puller and it had the correct bolts.
Next question -- How do I remove the "shaft lock" ... #6 in this diagram

Does it just pull off? I don't want to break anything..
Thanks

Although I got no replies...I figured if this showed up on some one's search -- this thread should help out:

I'm working on a '96 and the lock plate was different, though it was removed the same way. The hazard light switch was also different, and was a bit more challenging to remove than simply taking a bolt out. For anyone doing this, removing this piece should be pretty straight forward.

If you didn't figure it out yet you need the tool that screws onto the shaft and will push that piece down so that you can remove the snap ring. If you don't have this tool it is impossible to remove the snap ring. It came in my master steering wheel service set from Matco.

Matco Tools Part number MST6503 https://www.matcotools.com/Catalog/t...&page=1鮓 The tool you need is in the bottom right hand corner in the appropriate picture on that link.
