Cluster issue

Cluster issue I know a lot of guys have the issue with their instrument clusters having the problem where the trip odometer resets and the gauges do a full sweep at start-up. My SS started doing this last year. I bought a new battery, since some of you said that was the cause, but it's still doing it. Is the cluster bad, whats the problem with these cars?
There was a TSB awhile ago which Gm probably wont cover anymore. It is the how the pins sit in the connector on the gauge cluster. Only thing you can do is replace the cluster or live with it bro. My car started doing it about 2 years ago and have put a new battery in it also. Plus I know the cold doesnt help either and can play a factor also. Hope it helps, but know it isnt what you want to hear. From what I researched 98s and 99s where prone to it.
To add, it doesnt reset your tune or hurt anything at all. Just resets the trip-meter and sweeps the gauges. It spooked the hell out of me because this started happenning to my 99 up here in Kodiak Alaska where parts are VERY EXPENSIVE to get.

I've had this happen a couple of times in the TA and once in the SS. In the SS it was cold due to my driver side window getting stuck down and took me a day to get it back up until I replaced the motor. Snow on the interior was not cool.
In the TA, it happened once when I had low voltage because of a loose battery connection. The other time the needles swept was just the other day when I pulled my cluster and the needles were all in crazy positions from handling it. As soon as I plugged it in they swept so I started the car and all guages worked properly.
