IMHO the best mods you can do to a stock form fbody is getting rid of the slack in suspension to allow all your power to hit the road. An issue with these cars is under load the rear axle will shift and tire contact does not stay completely flat on the ground - also makes for the squirrelly tail fbodys are known for. I would highly suggest getting rear LCA's/Panhard bar and Torque arm, you'll immediately notice you can up your speed in corners without loosing control of your tail - even in the wet. Rear suspension components can be had for pretty cheap and but the performance yield is high.
Sway bars would definitely be next on the list, another cheap option which will make your car feel completely different, you'll get a huge confidence boost when hitting the corners with stiffer sway bars. I would save for great springs/shocks, don't skimp here.
Once you get your tires planted on the ground, I would start pushing more power out of the motor, I'd suggest collecting power mods and do them at once as they are optimized with a tune - if you stay with a stock bottom end I'd save for a CAI, Ls6 Manifold, LT Headers, Cat Back - install them at once and get a tune. You will need these down the road when its time for Head/Cam upgrade.
Best mods you can do period, is getting the tires planted. F-body's in stock form are lazy at planting power to the ground. Get that straightened out first.
Oh yea.. Tires Tires Tires, what point is it to get power out of a motor if you cant grip? stay away from all terrain tires, AT tires are ok in the rain, ok in the dry and ok off road > in other words, not great at any of the conditions... Get a set of ultra performance summer tires for the summer time, and winter tires for the winter time. Grip is important.
