Battery issue.
Battery issue. So I've ran into a problem getting my z28 to fire up. I just got finished swapping in a 42k mile long block into my 95z28. Car sat for awhile so Old battery is to dead to take a charge from the jumper cables. But when the jumper cables are on the cars power atleast comes on just not enough to turn the car over starter just clicks. I swapped in the battery from my ss which I know is good and nothing. Gauges don't turn in etc. Like the batterys completely dead. Put it back in the ss and fires right up. Put the old battery back in the z28 and does same as before it'll power up with the jumper cables. Tried a third battery and nothing. Has me a bit confused as I know the other two batterys are good. I cleaned the battery terminals and connections and nothing.dum ahhh so frustrating so close
When the good battery is in, do the gauges light up etc. proving that the battery is connected up to the car?
If so, you should probably check to make sure the solenoid is getting voltage.

I assume you are hooking the jumper cables up with the negative grounded to the body of the car you are trying to start? If so, maybe your negative battery cable isn't connected properly to the car?
If you hook jumper cables up to the new good battery and the gauges come on - that would indicate a problem between the battery ground and the car. Or... hook the jumper cables up to the bad battery directly and then grounded to the body of the car you are jumping from. If the gauges don't work under this system, that would also confirm the same thing.
