not sure, looks like housing is just inline with the tubeing. mine was drivers side too with window down drive by parked car on that side the noise drove me insane. you can pull whole system and egr if you have one and cap it all off with block off plates from ws6 store (around 20 bucks) in 30min tops

i can get it to go away by slightly pressing the gas. but take off its there.
i have the egr tube on the intake cut and sealed. theres 2 tubes coming off my headers thats part of the egr right? i tried following the tubes that connect to them behind the manifold but cant find where the end at.

mines a 98 not sure with yours, on mine driverside air tube to header unbolt and block off, passenger side header air tube remove block off, passenger side header egr tube remove block off from egr to intake remove at intake and block off, unbolt egr and remove it all block offs can be purchased at ws6 store. pull all tubeing off and if you want pull pump out of drivers side fender there is a access panel bottom of front of fender, if you dont want to pull pump there are 3 plug ins on it might be just 2 cant remember unplug them. if you dont it will still pump air when you first start it but that wont hurt anything just annoying to hear it. and should be it

cant really tell from that, are your valve covers center bolt or perimeter bolt? in other words do the valve cover bolts go down the center front to back or do they go all the way around the outer edge of the valve cover?

Dude wash that engine bay! Take it to a car wash leave it running and soak it with degreaser and power wash the **** out of it. btw that is a 98-00 engine since it does have center bolt valve covers and an ls1 intake manifold. The tick is probably the AIR pump

the drivers side head definitely has a perimeter bolt valve cover and head I cant see the passenger side too well but I imagine it would be the same. I'd clean that engine bay and get an ls6 intake on there asap especially since thats the intake that 01 would have come from the factory with.

It's on the list of things to buy. First I need new springs up front due to idiot previous owner. Then new tires then ls6 time!

Get a piece of 4ft hose and stick it in your ear (not all of it, just the tip) cover your other ear... with the other end point it towards where you can hear the tick more....you should able to pinpoint almost exactly where its coming from.

Funny you mention this! I had a code a year or two ago and ended up replacing ONE of the check valves for AIR. I don't remember which one I replaced now, but this sound is coming from the driver's side I believe. I did the last one myself so I'm sure this will be easy, now just to find out for sure which one needs replacing (i'll use the tube to the ear method).

Question: my sound only occurs AFTER the engine is warm, and it does not really go away (as long as the rpms are low and conditions present etc.) Doesn't the AIR shut off after the engine is warmed up? Could it still make this noise even though the engine is at operating temp?

Thanks for the tips

If the check valve is bad it will rattle or clack if you will, from the exhaust moving it around even though the pump isnt firing it.
