Power Window Modulator? Help please.

Power Window Modulator? Help please. (Sorry if this is in the wrong spot ahead of time)
Finally decided it's time to fix the drivers side window, after not working for about a year..
There is a new motor in it, new switches, fuses are good.
Took it to a shop owned by a couple friends of the fam. they tested it. It's getting power. So they tell me it's the window control modulator.
$200 to replace. Not paying that.
made a few calls and found out that any modulator from 98-02' v6 or v8 will work, as its the same piece. Junk yard said they would sell me one for about 25-35 dollars.
Now, how do i get to this piece, and is there anything i should know before replacing it?
