Cool Loud clanking noise

Was driving home with my boosted 2001 ss, with no boost ingaged and I heard a loud clanking noise towards the mid to rear end, I was only doing about 30 mph when it happened, when I push the clutch in it would still make the noise as the car was rolling with the clucth pushed in, can anyone tell me if it's the transmission, clutch, or differential. There are no leaks on the floor, the oil is good and there are no engine lights on. After the car was sitting for awhile I tried to move it again and met some resistance with the clank noise in reverse and then forward, I am hoping it's just the differential, does anybody have any experience with this?

The only way to see if it's the rear end or not is really to just pull the cover.

ok just went out to look under the rearend and noticed all the rearend oil on the floor, this make the diagnosis alittle more easy. Can anybody give me some guided direction on how to rebuild the rear end?

If it is the rear end you still need to open it up to see what broke. Just a simple rebuild kit will probably not fix it. So see what broke then go from there
