what battery to buy? soooo i need a new battery, my optima battery after 6 years has died, whats a good battery to buy out there? whats the LEAST amount of cranking power i should get for my ls1? i dont have a crazy stereo just h/c ls1.... i was thinking bout going with interstate, anyone want to put their 2 cents in? thanks in advance |
IMO, just stick with a battery that's equal to the factory battery output and you should be good. |
Take it in to wallmart. They give you some money for your old battery and they will pretty much replace your battery whenever it goes bad |

Yea any place has a core charge......i like advance batteries and ive heard good things about autozone ones to. |
Orbital is a great brand as well. I've got many years on mine with no issues. |
autozone? ive heard those suck but ill look into it too, orbital too ill look into it thanks |
Just about every stock replacment battery is made by johnson controls so its all what u want to spend I like to go as high as I can in cca's u just don't want to go under the minimal rating for your car |
I have a interstate mt75 that is from December 01 that starts everyday flawlessly since I bought it last year. If the thing ever dies in getting another interstate |
By it I mean my car not the battery lol |
Why not buy another optima? |
havennt bought another battery since that time so i just wanted to check to see if anything else is out there that i should know about...... im thinking about getting the interstate one |
Never understand why people have something that works but absolutely must change to something else. You'll be disappointed in your next purchase more then likely. My Optima has been a trooper and I will buy another when its time. |
yeah i guess, live and learn huh |
I had 2 Autozone Duralast batteries crap out on me in the past 7 months. went with a Optima Red Top now, like i should have from the beginning. |
I've seen a diehard platinum (sears) get shot by a rifle, break into two halves, pushed back together, then start the car. It's Probobly on YouTube somewhere. I think they use it as an advertisement. It's also absorbed glass mat, pretty sure the optima is too. Oh and the warrant is ridiculous. 48 months free replacement and 52 month pro rated. It's made by odyssey. |
As can be said about so many other things... You get what you pay for. If it's fairly expensive, there's a reason for it. |

longest warranty gets my money |
There is no better battery. This is a post by ME, from awhile back about batteries when I was looking for a new one.. ....50 month free replacement.... Get the AC Delco 78-7yr.....its badass. Bennett Auto $109.00 with core exchange. Yeah, I was considering the Die Hard Platinum...but for $190.00, thats just crazy. The AC Delco is stronger and comes with a longer 100% FREE replacement warranty. Also, they redesigned it from the last 78-7YR I had in there for 6 years...now it has caps you can pull off the top to check the water level. They still say its a truly sealed battery , but they can be taken off to check them. Plus it weighs 15 pounds less than the Platinum. They upgraded it to 800 CCA from the old 750 CCA and it has the same 960 CA. I spoke to Advance Auto and PepBoys...they said they get alot of the Optimas back. So forget them. Plus they are all weaker than the AC Delco. . |
