power steering whine......

Default power steering whine......

so when sitting still, if i turn it left or right while sitting still, ill get a whine........shoot me but i havent even checked the fluid....woops......while moving just a little it wont do it......its a 98 z28 with 95000 miles so i guess i gotta assume that its original fluid........so whatsthe best way of getting all the old fluid out?

Turn it like you said to make it whine and get it a rev, if the whine gets louder with the Rpms than you can be sure it is the ps pump, I'd check your fluid, mine was whining too and I was low, hasn't done it since

Don't take this too hard, but common sense seemed to have received a brutal kick off these forums..

Of course its worth adding new fluid, at the minimum CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL and top off if needed. Get a turkey baster thing and suck the fluid out and add some more, turn the wheel a bunch to cycle it through, and repeat. I'm assuming I should add in this - dont turn the wheel until you've topped off the fluid
