Default help!!!, lt1 issues..

well ive been going at it with my 95 firebird formula for some time now and it seem as if the damn thing just wont stop breaking!

after replacing the starter this morning i put on the cap for my exhause cut-out and took it to town to get an inspection,
well i made it to town when all the sudden the car started sputtering and jerking and and then popped and released a small puff of balck smoke.

I then pull into a parking lot and decide to pull the cap off the cut-out only to find a ton of metal shavings.
at this point i thought the engine was blown and i was seeing the remain of by bottom end.
so i say screw it and go to start it anyways to limp home in sorrow,
to my surprise it starts up fine and drives fine down the road for about a mile then starts sputtering again and eventually quits.
i leave the car there for awhile and come back later to fin it start up fine again and drive fine all the way home.

now im clueless, i added some berrymens b12 to the fuel today before my mis adveture,
is there anyway this could have caused my plugs to foul out?
could it be my opti bitchin out again?
idk ive about had it with this car and am out of ideas,
anyone know what the prob could be?

also it seems to run fine when its first started and after a few mins it starts the sputtering/jerking things again,
im about to replace the plugs and see if it helps any...

sorry for the life-story but im getting desperate,
any help or advise is greatly appreciated

sounds like your cat is jacked up take your catalaytic converter out, and replace it. whats happening is as it gets hot its melting down and making it impossible for your engine to breathe. once cool the cat can flow a little bit so it runs ok. its the only option

haha im liking this idea!!

so the melting cat would cause it to sputter and cut out? and that does make sense considering the metal shavings coming out the exhaust.

would putting a dummy cat on throw off anything??
