What is this part??

Can someone tell me what this parts is & what its funcution is??
Its On a 1998 Pontiac TA. There is a hose that connects from the intake, behind the throttle body ...

EVAP solenoid I believe. It vents gasoline fumes into the intake to be burned.

Yep they are correct...that's the evap purge solenoid. I had to buy another one a few days ago because we broke it trying to remove it when we took the engine out of my camaro.
