Fix the pcv, change the fuel and air filters, then swap in some new o2s.

Unless you have a fuel leak....you're running way rich. Get a scan with the engine running to see how the 02 sensors are switching. You will NOT always get a code when they are going bad and dumping allot of fuel...not till they are real bad where you will feel the engine running crappy.

Tape that PCV tear for now and see if that changes anything for one tank of gas.

How did the old spark plugs look? You can tell alot from what those look like.

I would get a scanner and see what's going on. From that you can determine whether it's mechanical (leaks, bad sensors etc.) or just a really rich tune.

also if you might want to seafoam the engine, get a CAI, catback, and lay off of the skinny pedal

That's normal mileage for city driving. All is well.

No one asked this, but be honest with yourself - are you driving it like you stole it? Driving habits have more of an impact on fuel economy than anything else will provided your MIL isn't on.

Plus 1 on the driving habits. I drove 30 miles to the track with half or slightly more then a tank of gas, made 6 runs and drove 30 miles home. The gas light came on as I pulled into the driveway. Seriously.

mine gets about 14 mpg and i try to drive it easy, mostly city driving. i drive about a mile on the highway every morning.

it seems to run fine, so i've just concluded that the milage is going to be that and live with it. maybe this winter i'll cehck my spark plugs, but its only got 47,000 miles on it (2002 SS LE 6 speed)

BTW - There is a huge difference between 55 mph taking it easy and 70 mph taking it easy.

At 55 mph, I can get 28 mpg after a cabon deposit cleaning. With the same engine, I'm in the low twenties at 70-75 mph.

I drive on the high way about 30 miles a day. I`ll tell you something, speed means everything. Traveling at 70 miles an hour is much more different then traveling at say 60 miles an hour. Ive started doing this, yea it takes me slightly longer to get home, but im also extending my mileage a little bit. Cruise Control is my friend lol.

Also, i guess i`ll throw in a "not to be a dick" question here, but are you figuring out your mileage right? I mean are you resetting your tripometer everytime you fill up and record how your doing? I started doing that a few months ago and it really tells you the true story, but mine is slightly inaccurate because i usually fill up just when it gets past the 1/4 mark, just to be safe lol

I hope you figure it out, i know it is kind of hard to save fuel in these cars.

[QUOTE=mannystien13;15498758]highway miles i get about 20 taking it easy[/QUOTE

My Guess is that you should do a little better than that. I drive 100 miles each way to work every day. I drive between 72-78 mph and I get 25 mpg with a 2800 stall. I get about 15 mpg in the City, most of our city roads are between 35 and 45 mph. Hope this helps.

i think you answered your own question slightly. the gears make a huge difference. What are the R's at when cruising at 60-65. As for my car, I have basic bolt ons and a 3600 stall. I noticed a little bit of a difference on gas but it was maybe 2 mpg. I get around 16-17 for around town
