How much $$$$ to replace head gaskets?? on 96 lt1
Ive got a 96 z28 and just recently started seeing white smoke pouring from the exhaust, and some sort of yellowish-brown color under oil fill cap, but no water on the dipstick. I think ive got a bad head gasket. How much would an average shop charge to change them?

Alot, sorry but you're looking at a $1,000 + easily unless you know someone who will be "nice" to you.
Keep an eye on your engine temp constantly, make sure it doesn't completely go one day... it should if it's blown. Also keep an eye out for your Check engine light to blink constantly. That will also be a for sure sign a gasket went. It could be a less expensive but still expensive intake gasket that is going.... Wipe off your cap, replace your oil and make sure you always drive it up to operating temp in the winter months. If the problem still exists or gets worse, you know you have a blown gasket.

I was thinking it was gonna be much more than that, I was charged $400 just for labor to replace the opti, plugs, and wires. The ses light flashed about 6-8 times then stopped, but has also flashed from a misfire.
