Dash lights fade out when I step on the brakes but fades back its like an instant fade. If you look you can see the lights dim and come back. Anybody know what it might be. I have replaced the alternator and battery and its the same...

What is your battery gauge reading?

I know that if I'm stopped with my Heater, Defrost, Radio, Fog lights & Headlights on - And I shift into Drive, (its an A4), my battery gauge will drop due to the lower RPM for the shift.

Mine has never dropped below 13 after I just recently got a new alternator.

It is an instant flicker, and my volatage stays at 14.5 and will drop to 14.2.

Mine started flickering and cutting out..like the car was dieing. reset my trip meter, radio stations too. Got to looking around again for a bad ground and there it was, staring me in the face right on top of the Alt a big crack on one of the bolts. This is also the source of a horrible squeal noise that started recently also. Haven't put a new alt on it yet but hopefully it fixes everything. I'll let ya know if it does.

Wish you luck on yours!

I will have to take a look because I never thought one of the bolts being cracked could cause any of this

Changing my alt here in about an hour. Hope it fixes these problems, now the tack doesn't move from 2k and the speedo twitches. I'll post results soon.

could also be your battery wires, there thin or high gauge wires to begin with. they could be loose or have corrosion.
