Electrical problems

Recently my gauge designating battery charge has been on the fritz. Anything above idle (about 500rpm) the needle goes to 18+ volts. This sets off the brake light, abs, asr, check gauges, air bag light. Haven't gotten the chance to check out a multimeter but hope to do so soon. Anyone have any experience on this?

Alternator or battery may be going bad, something is causing it to overcharge

Alternator is my guess. Pull it and have it tested

Similar thing happened to me. Ended up being a loose ground wire as well as lpose battery terminal connections. That prompted me to do some rewiring to make my setup applicable to the top post clamp style battery. Side posts suck IMO
