Regular maintenance is 50k generally. Change that stuff out. I did mine at 70k with no probs. Now if you are experiencing shift problems I would be wary of flushing it out. Btw use dex6 if you flush it. Dex 3 is discontinued. Or a multivehicle will work.

The book says every 30k change fluid and filter in your pan. Ill do every 15k-30k.
Dont be afraid of changing whats in your pan. I even stood up my trans on its tail to get all the old stuff out when I did my stall. I added 10 new qrts to a 92k trans and no problems 12k later after 50 track passes + **** loads of WOT on the street.
Just dont go hooking up a flush mashine and you will be ok. Just do fluid in pan and change your filter.

This is where everyone has there own opinions. Me personally I wouldnt change the fluid any other way than hooking a machine up to it and flushing it. I've been doing it for 9 years now as my job and only seen one damaged after a service and thats due to it slipping prior to service and the customer was aware of possible consequences. But however way you feel like doing it is fine too. flushing it I know at least I remove the fluid from the converter without the extra headache. Just dropping the pan will result in the new fluid oxidizing the minute you start it up because of the extra fluid in the converter. We use BG products here at work for our chemicals and additives. Do a search for a shop near you if you would like. They also make an amazing trans fluid. Good luck bud

I never changed the transmission oil myself and would like to do so to save some money. But worry about oil leaking through the pan because i am aware that you shouldn't over tighten them or the pan will leak. Any tips on self trans oil change?

It is not a hard job. Just break some of the bolts on one side so the fluid can drain out. While it is draining go do something and give it time. Come back, drop the pan, change the filter, put the pan back on with new filter/gasket. Then add fluid.

I've been doing a pan drop and filter change on mine every 30k or so. Stock trans is doing fine now at 102k miles.

Yea, it just makes a frikin mess...and stinks. Be prepared with some rags under the car so that when the tranny fluid spills out of the pan you won't be completely bathed in it. Not that I've experienced that...
