Question Head light trouble/issue?

Started up the car since its been in storage and noticed a knocking sound. After warming up the car I put it away. When I turned the key off it make the knocking noise still. I thought it was the air pump but then realized it wasn't. I disconnected the battery. Waited then reconnected. The noise was still there even with key off. Started pulling fuses and got to the right and left head light and PULLED BOTH, no more noise. I put the fuse back in and turned the head lights on. One went up and one didn't. Now one won't go down and one won't come up?? And the knocking noise is still there?

Any suggestions, cause I haven't heard of this one before?

If the sound only happens one time when you start the car or turn it off, its a headlight gear.

no it is a continuous thud thud thud from both motors. almost like the headlight leveling module is messed up. Ive seen youtube clips of the headlight motors gone bad this sounds nothing like it.

Is this a Canadian car? (The US cars don't have levelers.)

Does the sound ever stop?

no its a US car. It was the headlight leveling control module. I plugged and unplugged it and everything was good to go. Not sure what the issue was. Its located on the side of the fuse box

That's your headlight actuation module. (US cars don't have levelers.) It sounds like it was commanding your motor to run. The noise would have been the motor binding. (Its supposed to shut off when it opens or closes all the way and the door motor stops moving.
