Starting Issue/noise I need help trying to figure out what is causing this fast. When I put my key in and turn it over, it starts making a noise that sounds like a Vacuum and a grinding noise for a few minutes then it goes away. Sometimes when I try and turn the car off and take out the key, it's still trying to crank over which leads me to believe it has something to do with the starter or the ignition switch. It just started to do this last week, no one I talk to seems to know what is causing it.
Disconnect the battery, take out the starter, passenger side held in buy two 13mm (or 15mm) bolts. Disconnect the battery lead.... take it to your local parts store (or call them first to see if they do testing) and have it tested. Autozone, advanced and a few others do this for free. While its out, look at your flywheel teeth. May need a breaker bar and a 24mm socket to turn the crank shaft pully and look at all of them. It will be a little hard to turn the pully as you are bulinding pressure in the cylinders.
This will help determine if the starter is going bad. Also look at the teeth on the starter...if they are bad, they could start eating the fly wheel teeth.

Bad starter It was just the starter, it didn't do any severe damage to anything thank god. It was really messed up though, but not the teeth or the flywheel. Runs real nice now.
