Replaced the serpentine belt today with one from AutoZone. Drove the car 50 miles at all rpm ranges and the belt started to sound like I had pigs under the hood. (It is the belt as all pulleys are good) when compared to the old belt it was about 1/8 inch smaller before install and after about 1/16 larger. Don't know what would cause that other than a cheap belt? What belt should I replace it with? Will this continue to be an issue?
Thanks for the help.

1. You can buy an adjustable pully to tighten the belt and remove squeek, helped with mine.
2. Buy a new GM belt, squeek gone ($60) I tried this and works.
3. there was a bulletin to replace the bracket that holds the alternator and a pulley, and you can replace and this will prevent the belt from ever squeeking regardless the belt brand. I never tried this yet.

the bulletin is nothing more than the P/Ns for the bracket and pulley....it was a mid yr change for 2000.....so if you have a mid 2000 or later you have the new parts......the pulley and bracket go together and do not inter mix with earlier parts.......for belts squeaks try a goodyear gator back belt
