Rt side blinker won't blink

I have an 01 firebird and for over a yr my right side blinker hasn't worked. I didn't care until I got pulled over for it lol...long and short of it my issues are a lil different than most threads I've found so here's wat I got:

I've changed the bulbs
The left side works fine but the right side doesn't
If I flick the turn switch manually the drl will illuminate brighter on the right
Both drls work fine
Hazard lights work fine
Theres an audible click wen the left turn signal goes on but not for the right
wen the right turn signal if clicked on the green arrow just illuminates

I've got about a month or so to fix this...also in the future I want to swap out to led drls and I heard something about an electric flasher? Any help on that would b a bonus but for now wat do I need to do

Plz and thnx n advance

Also I have auto zone and pep boys nearby

does no one have a clue about this?

Does the rear, right turn signal work? And, "If I flick the turn switch manually ... " are you talking about the parking light / head light switch?

Most likely your flasher is bad. Lots of threads on this.

RH turn sig

When mine did this, the harness assmbly had melted from moisture contamination...changed the entire assmbly and problem solved,

Good Luck

May just be the turn signal cam.

Does it click out of place when you straighten the wheel?

May also be some crud or water damage to the turn signal socket. Inspect that and clean.

Its not the flasher though, theres only one for the turn signals so the fact that you driver side works eliminates that.

This statement is not true with a stock thermal flasher. Each side of the car has a different resistance. Socket wear/corrosion can also increase this resistance from one side to another. If a thermal flasher is going bad and one side has a higher resistance, it will pull more power and trigger the flasher where the side with less resistance won't have enough juice to make the circuit flash.

Again, lots of threads on this - if the hazards work correctly, it proves the bulbs, sockets, and harness are all good. Its a $1.50 - $10 fix, depending if the replacement is another thermal or an electronic one.

with all the threads ive seen it was always something different than my issue...either no hazards no interior green turn signals both sides dont work etc

as for the flasher i learned something new today lol. now if i change out the flasher to an electric one and i dont put in the led lights just yet, it wont cause any kind of problem right?

No problem - its just more expensive and the 'click' sounds different. You can even change the flash rate with an electronic unit. See post #96 here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...-lights-3.html

I wasn't aware of the circuit worked that way, thanks.

OP, try switching the hazard flasher for the turn signal flasher. I switched to an electronic flasher and have click sound, got it from super bright leds.

NIghtHAwk01 Mar 9, 2012 12:04 PM

hey just wanted to say thank u to everyone who responded. it turned out to b the flasher. since i upgraded to the electronic flasher im also going to b getting the switchback led bulbs.

btw if anyone is from the chicago area and ur reading this dont go to topspeed for ur switchback bulbs!!!!!!! even tho they sell 3157s they dont fit our housing...unless u want to shave the plastic of the bulb a lil bit and switch the metal connectors in the opposite direction...smh
