Default 2 questions

1st. I have a little play in the steering wheel. It's approximately 1 inch from center in either direction. Can anyone inform me of possible causes? I've repaired sterring columns before but not ones with air bags. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

2nd. I'm noticing that the steering is stiff. I've checked the steering pump and there are no leaks and and the level is good for cold and hot. I can only think that the pump may be going out. Can anyone else verify this and inform my on how hard it is to replace? First time replacing.

Thank you for your time.

the slop could be anything from loose tierod ends to ball joints... could even be the universal joints on the shaft... hard to isolate without being there

Thanks for the info. I'll try the ties and ball joints first. I really dont think the shaft may be it but I'm not going to rule that out just yet. I put a 12 bolt moser u joint with a stock shaft. I may just need to replace that with a nitrous ready driveshaft. Do you know of any links that have a write up for the tierods and ball joint?
