Default Transmission Mount Twist

Title says it. After replacing my transmission mount with a factory style replacement and torquing it down I noticed some twist in the rubber mount, as it the bottom section is trying to twist clockwise. See pics below:

The mount was bolted to the tail shaft and torqued to spec at 18 ft lbs and the other end of the mount was bolted to the x member and torqued to spec at 77 ft lbs.

Is this normal?

what condition are your motor mounts in? maybe theyre worn enough to allow the engine and trans to be twisted enough to cause that

If the motor mounts are poly you could have put one in upside down. I had the same exact issue and had to flip it over.

It does that a little even with poly trans mounts. You could use a small pry-bar to hold it in place when you tighten it down.

Will the twist actually hurt anything though? Or is it ok to leave it the way it is?

It might cause the tranny mount to rip prematurely due to the stress of it not being centered and forced into place.
