Default LQ4 Maintenance

Hey all. I am doing an engine swap on my Jeep Wrangler and chose the 6.0L LQ4 (out of a 2002 Sierra 2500HD) for my swap. Anyway, the engine has approximately 110K miles on it and has been sitting for about a year. If you were in the same situation, what would you change? The fit will be a bit tight, so I'd like to do anything that is easy and cheap enough to do while I have it on a stand rather than having something crap out on me after I've installed the engine. I figure I'd at least do the water pump, but what else would you recommend?

Thanks!

Head gaskets, lifters, timing chain, and oil pump. Get all new gaskets for everything while you're at it.

Oh and pour some oil down each spark plug hole and turn it over by hand a few times every so often.

Not sure about the above recommendations but I have my own

Head gasket should be fine as long as it hasn't been sitting with the coolant lines un covered. Always a good idea to replace the water pump

I would replace the rear main seal and the oil pan gasket. They tend to dry uP after sitting for a while. When you pull the pan you will get an idea of how neglected the engine was or wasn't by the amount of sludge down there

The engine has been sitting covered and empty of all fluids. I am putting in an F-body oil pan, so I will have to do oil pan gasket and might as well do oil pump anyway...and I suppose that I have to remove the timing cover to get to the oil pan anyway, so the chain would also be an obvious choice.

I'd recommend Marvel Mystery Oil if you go for pouring oil into the spark plug holes b/c it'll still combust w/o fouling your plugs.
