Steering column problem

Steering column problem My steering wheel will move diagonally down if i pull lightly and also some kind of pin falls out once in a while, i have been told it can be fixed for around $150 should i pay someone to fix it, should i get a used column, do they sell new ones? what is the best way to fix this? Thanks in advance for any replies

no, not needle bearings, but more like a pivot pin, and there is two on each side but only one falls out. And even when its in, the diagonal play is there. I just want to know what the permanent fix is

I have the same problem, I figured out that the hole the pin goes in has elongated over time. I am planning to buy a couple of reaming bits to re-size the hole and then have a machine shop make me a new pin that will fit the larger whole based on the size of the reaming bits I can find.
From what I can tell the problem lies in the fact that there is less material on the left side as they cut some away to make room for the sliding mechanism that is part of the ignition. This seams to be why that hole deteriorates over time as you push and pound on the steering wheel.
