Help, Car is dying while driving. Hey guys I am having a problem with my car..It is a 98 z28. I was driving this morning on my way to school when it began sputtering and then shut off. I cruised to a stop and turned the ignition and started right up, then drove a few more miles and the same thing, no CEL is on btwCan anyone help me figure out what is wrong??? From what I have read it seems to be the crank position sensor but I would like to hear from you guys. Thanks in advance.
If its the CPS the engine won't sputter, it will just shut off instantly and quick.
Then you could have hard starts where the engine will crank and crank but won't start. Then all of a sudden it will start when you try it again.
Change it.....takes like 10 min.

Sounds like it could be fuel pressure dropping off for some reason. Has the fuel filter been changed regularly? If not that's where I'd start. If so you're probably going to have to hook a fuel pressure guage up to it.

I don't think your car wants to go to school...
Is this at cruising speeds or only when you come to a stop? Is the car auto or manual?
