Default Engine chugs at 40% throttle.

Seems to be most noticeable in 6th gear going like 35mph. Eventually low rpm. I've recently replaced the PCV and purge valve. I've checked IAC, MAF and Air temp sensor. Event checked for dead spot on TPS. Nothing. What do I look at next?

Sorry. Didn't mention I got 4.10s. Sits right around 1200rpm.

Well today it seems to be worse. It cuts out all the time. This is the second time this has happened. The problem went away when I replaced my PCV valve but apparently that wasn't the real problem.

I did find out that I was dragging a O2 harness through puddles a couple days ago. That's when I noticed it was acting up again. I resecured them and let them dry out. Any chance I damaged the O2 sensor? I forgot to secure the sensor when I pulled the exhaust to weld it all. The headers never came off.

That's still a little low. Cruise at 1600-2000... I found my best fuel economy on the HW was at 1900rpm.

Yeah I don't generally cruise there but I was originally trying to reproduce the problem. Now the car seems to have issues most of the time when accelerating.

It may be ignition related. Generally if you put a load on the engine and it breaks up, it's the ignition. First smoking gun would be the plugs. When was the last time they were changed?

I pulled them a couple weeks ago when this problem originally happened and they looked like they should for older plugs. Still had good points.

^ If they're older, put new ones in. They're not platnums or irridiums are they? These cars don't like fancy plugs. Just AC's or NGK's. I've seen plugs that look fine but don't run worth a ****. Cheap and easy (relatively.) I mean, it won't hurt. We usually use the NGK TR55's.

I'm definitely going change plugs and I'm thinking about also replacing o2 sensors. It's jut strange that it hasn't thrown a code yet.

Well I dug in there really well. I dropped my starter and examined everything. This morning the car would start after wiggling wires. So assumed it was an electrical issue. Apparently part of my wiring harness was resting on my header. I unhooked everything and pulled it back to the top and looked at it. Under the heat wrap four of the wires had exposed wires. Appears that the plastic got brittle and broke off. After dew wrapping everything and lots of zip ties; the car runs like a champ.
