Default cam sensor question.

I want to get rid of my codes po341,43 & 1404 so I am going to take a no big deal 40 mile ride to the Vette Doctors LI NY for the labor to swap the cam sensor. There are few ls1 cars in my area and my regular mechanic didn't give me a good feeling. I was quoted $200 labor only which I feel is more then reasonable from the Vette Doctors.

I was planning on getting an a/m part from Autozone and bringing it. He said " I don't know how much the part is at the dealer". I thought I read on here the a/m part is fine for this aplication, do i need the oem? I will ask the mechanic to check the wiring as well. Is there a was to check the part before putting humpty dumpty back together? I just don't want to pay to r&r the intake twice by bringing my own part. Thanks. Brian.

How much of a price difference is there? If it's not much, get the dealer part. If you're going through this trouble to replace it.............

You should be able to run the autozone piece no problems. I would also get new intake manifold gaskets while you are up there.

I didn't reply to this thread because your not doing the work yourself. Sounds silly but if you have turned a wrench on a car you should be able to take off the intakemanifold yourself using ls1howto.com

Any shop that has ever worked on these cars should be easily able to complete the task for you in under an hour. It is an extremely simple job, however if they do it wrong they can break the oil pressure sending unit

I could have never done it if you gave me 100k lol. I turned out to be a mouse chewed up wires in the harness.
