terrible squeak
Ok so there is a terrible squeaking noise that I need help identifying. I've replaced the belt, tensioner and idler pulleys, still there. It only happens in the cold weather, it gets less noticeable at idle but screams under acceleration. It also happens if its damp out but goes away only if its warm out. Its embarrassing lol..any ideas?

Fran Drescher didnt hide in your engine bay to keep warm, did she?
Have you tried spraying wd40 or some type of lubricant spray on each pulley as the motor runs? this happened on my cavalier..since i had the pulley assembly from a cobalt (i supercharged it) the idler pulley was the culprit. after spraying it, the squeak has been gone for months.

I just had a similar squeal and it was a bad bearing in my alternator...
To locate the source, you can either use a $15 mechanic's stethoscope or put a long metal rod up to your ear. (This is a little more hazardous.) You can then probe by touching the cases of the alt, p/s pump, water pump, etc. to find the source. Either method will amplify the sound coming from the specific component.
Hopefully, just 1 will be noisy!
