Default Power Steering Whine?

I've got a 2000 camaro with some serious whining coming out of the engine. I first notices it while I was driving, and it seems to be worse while turning (leads me to think its the power steering, but to be honest I'm 17 and not very knowledgable). However, i can here it while the engine is idle and im looking at it. The belt seems to be vibrating near the bottom of the engine, do you guys think the belt is loose, or is it something else?

That would all be consistent with a power steering system issue. (Pump or rack.) As mentioned above, start with the fluids. If you are low, you'll get a whine. Doing a flush of the fluid may also get rid of the noise if the system isn't too far worn. Has it been like this for a long time?

Not sure what this is. Maybe you can post a video?

As far as the fluid, I checked it and it is getting low, I guess i never imagined it would produce a whine, thanks. As far as the vibration, I'll add the fluid and if it isn't fixed then I'll post a video. Thanks again.

I use Valvoline, but I'd not hesitate to use the store brands. I'm sure others will say to use some sort of hi-temp racing formula, but... that's probably overkill for your application.

Keep an eye on the fluid level for a few weeks after you top it off to make sure you don't have a leak or something

I do have a leak, and I've identified the hose, do you have any idea which it is? You can see it at the top of the screen shiny (wet) with a drop about to fall. the picture is taken from underneath the car from the front. the boot seen is over the inner tie rod

That's probably the pressure hose. It's always the first to go.

Yes, that appears to be the pressure line. ACDelco 36-363170 $30 shipped from Amazon

You might also want to consider this: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...g-success.html I was just going to change my pressure hose when I said "eff it" and did the aftermarket cooler and added the upper radiator hose from a '98 Z28.

Its a V6, so it would not have come with a stock cooler.
