Default Ls1 Bogging down

Wasn't sure exactly where to put this thread but here we go.

I have a 2000 ls1 z28 6 speed.
It has a bunch of little things on it and a racetronix fuel pump

every once in awhile after a couple minutes after i start it up and drive it, it bogs down and stutters. If i put it in neutral it wont hold idle.
One time it did it and it threw up a cel of a misfire on cyl 3.
I does this maybe once every 3 months on regular.

Its don't it more frequently recently but didn't put up and cel codes so i assumed it was bad gas but that is not the case.
Any ideas?
I don't wanna start throwing money at it blindly cause that gets expensive real quick.

I had a "similar" problem with my TA back when I first got it. It would do fine until I tried to get on it. If I floored it, it would just bog down and stutter. It turned out to be the little sensor located on the air box. It was going bad and reading wrong info on the air intake and caused the stutter. Once I replaced it, the car had normal power and I haven't had a problem since. I can't say for sure if this is your problem, but its worth at least checking into.

Hope this helps!

that lil sensor in the air box is the IAT sensor i believe.

OP you should also look into cleaning the maf sensor.

Although logically the problem 'd be noticeable all the time if either of these sensors were on their way out.

Yeah it only happens every once in awhile and only for a couple of seconds, i cleaned my throttle body and the maf not too long ago and that didn't change it.

in order to not throw money at it blindly, you need to look at and possibly record real time pcm data to diagnose the problem when it happens. like what ba98ta said about his, if he were to do that he would maybe see something like his IAT reporting 200°F of 32°F or something ridiculous when he knows it should be reporting around what the outside air temp is. unfortunately the tools to do this cost money, or you'll pay probably $100 for a competent shop to road test with these tools.

I have a bluetooth obd scanner that connects to my phone and gives me data like that and more. Just a matter of having it on when the bogging down happens. If i find anything else out ill chime in.
