Default LT1 No start kick back

Hey Fellas; Got a 94 Z28 project car for real cheap and am having trouble starting it.
It has 117,000 miles and previous maintenance is unknown.

Had to replace the Bendix drive on the starter to get to this point; but when trying to start, the motor will crank and then once you let go of the key the motor will kick back.

Hopefully it hasn't destroyed a rod or valve yet, but what exactly would be the cause or things I can check.

Would the Optispark cause this condition?
Or does it looked like it jumped timing?

Appreciate any help.

Time for an optispark replacement. I as of last week replaced the oldest factory opti I've ever had come through the shop. 94 z28 177K 2nd owner factory opti finally died at 177,245 the rotor came apart on it.

I'm trying to check all I can before replacing it since it's not the cheapest part to replace.
Thanks for the reply.
