Default quick question

How do I test the pulleys on the Ls1? Belt tensioners are good according to their gauges and so are the belts. I have a chirp and it's driving me crazy!

It shouldn't have any play in it. If it does, replace it.

If you end up with none of them having play, but still have the squeak, you can start replacing them one by one to try and figure it out. Or if you don't care to replace them, follow the link below and throw some bearing grease in those biznatches.

All you can really do is remove the A/C belt, start the engine and see if the chirp stopped. Then at least you know if its the engine pulleys or the A/C pulleys. So you can narrow it down a little it.

You can get a mechanic's stethoscope for around $15. That will help you track down the noise in a few minutes.

Like previously stated, start with the ac belt removed. Lots of problems with tensioner in that setup making a ton of noise. Stethoscope is good too, if you don't feel like picking one up, a long screwdriver held to your ear will pick up noise/vibration pretty well too.
