Glad you found the problem. There was probably too much oil sprayed on the K&N the last time it was cleaned, a common mistake.
You want very light oil on the air intake side (the part that faces down) and none one the back side. Over a little time the oil will migrate throughout the cotton. When you buy a new one and open the box you see that it is all a nice orange color, that is because it has sat on the shelf long enough for the oil to spread.
If you wash, dry, and re-spray your own filter and it comes out all orange like new, you probably have put too much on.
After you drive it for awhile, check the air lid for signs that the oil is being pulled out of the filter.

yeah when I pulled it out it was black I am trying to maintenance the car because apparently the guy i got the car from modded it up great but didn't maintenance it.. so far I have done the following:
-Cleaned MAF, IAC, TB and K&N.
-I put fuel injector cleaner with an empty tank of gas.
-added fluid to the clutch reservoir which was EMPTY lol
-he told me he changed the spark plugs about a year or 2 ago but now I don't believe him so I might do it this week or next weekend..
-When I get paid tomorrow I am going to do an oil change.
anything else I am not thinking of?
