2001 Trans Am ws6 overheating issues I have a trans am ws6 2001 and it has been overheating a couple of days, my heater was blowing cold air and getting hot really fast, but then the heat started to come through and cooled the car down. But now there is a loud squeeking noise coming from a area like a loose pulley or something...I've called a few mechanics and they tell me that its my water pump, but they just want to get me for$450.00, so, what are my options, any suggestions or advice would help a great deal.
Loud squeaking could be because water/radiator fluid is getting on your pulleys. Could be coming out of the weep hole on the water pump, but that normally doesn't cause something to overheat.
Replacing the water pump on these cars is not difficult at all. In fact now that I think about it the LS1 is a really friendly motor to mess with. Anything to me thats RWD is just a freakin relief to work on.
