Gas gauge problem

Gas gauge problem I was just wondering if someone could help me. Whenever I turn on my car my gas gauge is working fine and like two minutes later the needle drops all the way down and it says " check gauges". I was just wondering why it keeps doing this?
My guage worked sometimes than I would start it up and it would not work sometimes and the check guages light would come on. It kept getting worse till the guage would not work. The sender unit inj the fuel pump module went out(located in the gas tank).
I did the trap door mod and replaced the fuel pump module and problem solved. Google camaro trans am ls1 trap door mod
I will bet that the sender unit in the tank is bad.
