Default Very strange headlight issue

I'm fed up... One of my headlights was grinding so I got a new nylon gear and pulled the motor and replaced the gear. Put it back together and tried it out and...it started grinding again and ruined my new gear. Luckily I had another gear. Pulled the motor again and replaced the gear, but this time I tried the manual adjustment first, and this is the issue I ran into:

When I raise the headlight, it hits the bump stop. But when I lower it the arm is like an inch away from the bump stop. I'm guessing this is why the first new gear died. What the heck gives!?!? I hate these stupid headlights...

Please help, I've been fiddling with these headlights all day...

Bump.

Someone has to know what I'm doing wrong... Do I have manually move the light to a certain position before putting the fuse back in? Does the position of the other headlight have any effect?

B/G -

Look at the other / working headlight's two-piece armature - and then compare the working unit to the unit not working correctly; I think you'll find your issue if you compare and contrast the two sides.

It seems like the motor shaft is not making solid contact with the nylon gear.?

Well, I finally figured out that the motor itself was a little loose. So I bent the metal tabs and then it was solid again. Reinstalled another new gear. Lights work now...finally...

The gears you had were fine. (They were probably just different than the A/Z ones.) The loose motor was what did them in. That same issue stripped metal gears on my car. Its very common.

If the problem comes back, you'll need to replace the motor.
