Default Tranny overfilled and bubbles?!

New to me 2002 Bird 3.8 with what seems to be an over filled tranny. I do see bubbles on the dipstick. Im not quite sure if something else is causing bubbles and making me misread the fluid level, or if fluid level is causing bubbles.

With a search a read of posts here and there, some say bubbles are OK. I dont see how that can be true considering air would cause breakdown in lubrication.

Does the stick go directly in the pan? If so, is it just bubbling or rather foaming?

If drain fluid and refill; what fluid, additives, amount, filter brand, gasket, and, what type RTV on gasket if applicable?

Fluid = Dexron, add per owners manual, filter and gasket = any...it's just a screen, RTV = any, sparingly.

I believe this was all just done by the previous owner. Maybe just overfilled?
Is there a way to easily drain? Maybe add some Lucas conditioner?

Hows the coolant level? Could be leaking in through the tranny cooler.
