so i changed the rear differential fluid today on my 1999 trans am with 140,000 miles on it. i bought it the other week im not sure when the fluid was changed last.

located tiny splinters of metal on the magnet on the cover. im not sure if this is normal or not..anyone have any experience?

Likely looks worse than it really is. If it's quiet after putting new fluid in, then I think you're good to go

Absolutely normal.

Remember, oil doesn't eliminate either wear or friction.
