Default AC delco battery

Well I think my AC delco battery in my 98 WS6 TA is on it's last leg...car is not driven much and been like 3-4 times that the car would not start. Now I generally get my batteries from Autozone or advanced auto etc with coupon (best prices) but prefer the OE look of the AC delco. Anybody using the newer ACdelco batteries (75-7YR or 75PG).....they appear to use vent caps to replace the previously maintenance free sealed case and are virtually identical to the parts shop version except for the ACdelco labels. Wonder if I should save the $ and just get the equivalent battery w/o the ACdelco stickers ? Thanks.

Thanks; I think you meant this thread ?

Regardless I missed that when I did a search. Good relevant info.

Also looks like I will be replacing the battery/coolant tray.....lip is cracked off sitting on the tray :-(

Haha, yes that would be the correct link. I guess that first link didn't help much, copy/paste typo on my part.

Battery is an ACdelco ACD75-60 date code S040P (April 2010)......only 5 yrs old. Going to keep it on a battery tender, maybe I'll get lucky and get a little more life out of I.....that and rig up the battery tray to secure the battery

I did an extensive search on comparable pricing and in the end the AC Delco 75 PG was the cheapest battery ($101+tax) of all of the "golds"....at least in my area. I was lucky to milk a few more years out of my previous "gold" with charges every 2 weeks or so. But, when I started getting consistent rpm and speedo gauge swings on every startup (due to low voltage)....I figured it was time. And getting stranded on a ride would have negated the cost of finding any battery "deals."

Good deal on that Autocraft gold for only $70. At my stores the only coupon they offered is a 15%er. That only drops the price from $127 down to $108. I'd have bought an Autocraft for $70. Got an email from AAP stating they could do better on an Autocraft gold but it was really no different than what they already offered on line. For now I have a piece of wood wrapped in carpeting wedged in at the front of the battery. After a spirited run yesterday it didn't budge at all. Not going to do anything with that for now.
