Default To iridium or not to iridium, that is the question

98'
3.8
112,000

With what I'm going to assume are the original plugs in it. This is a daily driver with no mods.

Thinking of NGK TR55 or TR55ix

do you think it is worth the extra $ for the ix? i don't plan on doing this again and the $ wont break me but at the same time dont want to just throw money out the window.

What was teh OEM plug in this Platinum or Iridium?

Any other plugs I should be looking at?

TIA

Just get the iridiums and call it a day. That's the first thing I did when I bought mine at 80k miles and I'm at 112k now with no problems. It's only two bucks extra per plug correct.

Are the V-6es as much a pain to change plugs on as the LS1s are??

THAT is the reason I went with the longest life (NGK Laser Iridiums) plugs I could find, and also because I still have ALL of the emissions equipment in the way, unlike all of the V-Power pushers on here who have longtubes, and relatively empty engine bays.

I've had both engines and done plugs on both. I would say the 3.8 is easier even with all the emissions.

For a daily driver I'd do iridium. Don't have to do plug changes as often.

The previous owner recommended I do TR55 in my car when I got it since it is cammed and I guess they are better even if they don't last as long. Since it isn't a daily it isn't like I'll be replacing them constantly. I really don't know if they truly are better for a cammed application or not.
