Default side mirror glass

Awhile back the glass on my driverside mirror decided to release from the plastic backing and fall to the ground and shatter. So I purchased a new mirror. On the back there is two tabs that have to snap into a cross pin. Well needless to say when i tried to snap the cross pin in I broke the tabs off. I tried gluing it but it did not hold. Now I have a good mirror with broken tabs. Is there a fix for this? Without buying a new mirror.

I had this happen when my car was brand new. Took it to the dealer of course and they had to replace the whole housing! They said there was no way to simply fix a new mirror into the original housing. Couldn't believe it but it was covered under warranty so I didn't complain.
